Antonietta Alfano
Antonietta is a Rochester based Deaf artist who is a professional dancer, performer/entertainer, choreographer, rope artist/aerialist, contortionist, inspirational speaker and natural healer. Antonietta came into the world stillborn, and was resuscitated. Three months later, she became ill with Scarlett Fever, which resulted in profound hearing loss. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she was the victim of multiple abuses, that diminished the light within. Two years ago, faced with losing herself and her daughter, she found the strength to set her life to a new path. She decided to channel the feeling of loss and defeat into what would lead to finding her life’s true purpose. She would become a better mother to herself, and her daughter. Her newfound strength inspired her to give back to the community by founding her business “Come Fly With Me Healing”. Based in Rochester, NY, her practice provides an alternative approach for others to find spiritual healing, that is accessible to both hearing and Deaf.
She is a recipient of the 2014 “Women’s Legacy Leaders Award” for RIT. Antonietta was also an Accessibility Coordinator and inspirational speaker for RIT’s Leadership Honor Society. Additionally, she is an advocate for “End Abuse for People with Disabilities“. She currently works with people with intellectual and physical disabilities, inspiring them to be free, and promoting independence and healthy living, through empowerment and better nutrition.
While continuing to spread love and light, Antonietta’s future goals include bridging the gap between hearing & Deaf by fighting to improve accessibility for Deaf individuals, not only in Rochester, but all over.
