Being “Her”d

Penny Sterling

Penny Sterling was born in 1959. And again in 1967. And a third time, in 2014, only this time it stuck. Penny is an Emmy-nominated video producer/director/shooter/editor, comedian, and storyteller. She has performed her show “Spy in the House of Men: A One-Woman Show with Balls” more than 30 times, in Rochester, Buffalo, Ithaca, Cincinnati, Washington, DC, and Minneapolis, to both critical and audience acclaim. She will be performing it again in Rochester as part of this year’s Pride celebration. Her collaborative piece “Parents & Children, Husbands & Wives”, with musicians Mike & Mel Muscarella has been performed in Rochester, Buffalo, and will be staged in Cleveland in July. Her new show: “SHMILF Life”, will be staged soon.

Penny is active in supporting the Human Rights Campaign and the Out Alliance. She also likes complaining about riding her bike ridiculously long distances much more than she likes riding them, but she can’t do the one without the other, you know?

Penny lives in Swillburg with her children when they’re home from college, and her cat Betty, who has expressed no interest in higher education.
